Takoradi Woman Jailed 6 Years For Faking Kidnapping

Joana Krah, 29 has today, 26th October, been jailed for 6 years with hard labour for fake kidnapping in Takoradi of Ghana’s western region, Asedafmonline has gathered.

The culprit was found guilty and sentenced at a Takoradi Circuit Court A, presided over by judge, Michael Ampedu.

Joana, together with two others staged her kidnapping demanding a total amount of ¢5,000 from her father.

The Ghana Police in a report indicated that a call was made to demand the said ransom. This happened in the Takoradi, popularly known as the oil city of Ghana.

Joana was arrested and taken to the Takoradi Central Police Station near SSNIT Office the 23rd October 23, soon after the kidnapping case was reported by her father. She was charged and found guilty deceiving the police and spreading of false news causing fear and panic to distract the peace of the country

According to the court, the suspect could have been jailed for more than 6 years but reduced the term as a result of Joana admitting and feeling sorry for the wrongful act committed to deceive her family, community and nation at large. This is to serve as a deterrent to others who may want to indulge in such practices. She has a 3-year-old son.
