Ghanaian striker, Raphael Dwamena who is 26 years of age collapsed on the field in a match between Blau-Weiß Linz and Hartberg. He was rushed to the hospital during the first half of the match but reports from the health centre confirm that he is stable.
The match which was played in the Austrian cup was suspended as a result of this development.
Linz manager Stefan Reiter reportedly said “His defibrillator struck and the doctors were able to stabilize him quickly,”
The good news is “Raphael’s condition is stable.” The rescue chain had “worked outstandingly”. “It didn’t take a second for the paramedics to get to him.”
Prior to this crucial match, the striker has for sometime now been battling with a heart problem and returned to the field of play not quite long after a year’s break.
Raphael Dwamena is a Ghanaian strker who has scored twice in his first appearance in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifier against Ethiopia.
He made his season debut on October 3 when Blau-Weiß Linz beat FC Wacker 1-0. He assisted the only goal of the match on that day.
