Buying airtime from one mobile network to another should not be a difficult task. However, many mobile phone users and subscribers find it difficult to do this. Some may have money in their Mobile wallet, yet they take out money to buy call credit or recharge cards without their mobile wallet.
Today, I want to show you in this article, how to buy and transfer airtime to other networks using the MTN Mobile Money Wallet. In Ghana, three telecommunication networks offer payment systems. These are MTN, Vodafone, and AritelTigo.
On MTN, to access Mobile Money services, on your phone, simply dial the USSD short code *170# and send. The Mobile Money Menu opens with the following options;
- Transfer Money
- MoMoPay & Pay Bill
- Airtime & Bundles
- Allow Cash Out
- Financial Services
- My Wallet
Choose option 3) Airtime & Bundles and send. Another menu will be displayed with the following options;
- Internet Bundles
- Fixed Broadband
- Schedule Airtime
From this menu, select option 1) Airtime and press send. A new menu is displayed with this list of items;
- Welcome Pack
- Other Networks
Because you are transferring the airtime from MTN to a different network, you must select option 4) Other Networks and press send from your handset’s keypad. After sending, you will receive another reply with a list of networks; AirtelTigo and Vodafone. Choose the network you wish to transfer the airtime to and send.
After this process, you will receive few security confirmations of which you must answer and enter your Mobile Money Pin and confirm purchase of the airtime. Voila!! Call credit transferred. Follow carefully this process and you will always be able to send credit across all networks from your MTN Mobile Money Wallet.
